When I started writing professionally almost 20 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing.
Getting a degree in creative writing didn’t teach me how to find clients, communicate well, write contracts, or market myself. My degree got me just enough ‘expertise’ to get hired. After that, it was on me to figure out what the F I was doing. I researched things online, did my best, and listened to feedback.
But why say all this? Because being an author was not something I was prepared for either.
Sure, I’d ghostwritten books for clients and written ebooks and online courses. But writing a book under MY NAME?
How in the heck was I supposed to do that?
To this day, I’m still not sure I know. But now that I’ve written nearly 13 books, I have developed a process that works for me. So far.
The Muses were clear they wanted me to document it along the way. So I did.
