“in a world
full of
temporary things
you are
a perpetual
feeling.”
—Sanober Khan—
With my upcoming move, I’m looking to the stars. And tarot cards. And old diaries. And old versions of me.
If I’m being honest, it’s easy to romanticize this timeline. Maybe even necessary. I am leaving one home to build another that has no form yet. All it has is a place in my mind, a place in my heart, but no forwarding address. The mystery has softness, freedom, and endless possibility.
(Cue the wistful sighs.)
I gaze at all of the things I own and dream of what new things will take their places. I wonder what will emerge. I wonder if it will look different or the same. I dream and dream and dream.
And the new moon is dreamy, the perfect time to reflect on home.
A crab travels sideways, moving faster by flexing the second joint in their legs.
The sign of Cancer is a willing, loyal, generous, and nurturing friend—not really a crab at all. A delighted host, a kind voice, and a soft heart.
This new moon in Cancer can remind us to share and incite this kindness, sharing it with yourself and others. Perhaps this is a moment to create a home filled with closeness and community care. Perhaps this is a moment to find out what your home needs to be wide enough to invite others closer.
For this new moon, you might ask:
What makes me feel at home?
What stories about home can I celebrate, release, or rewrite?
How can I nurture myself to make a kind home within myself?
Maybe I can find what home feels like in my bones. Maybe I can create new stories and let the past find its way into places between the stars. Maybe this is a moment where I can remember that I am a home to myself.
Can I acknowledge my own homecoming, home-going, home-building every day?
What about you?
What does home feel like for you?
What do you want it to feel like?
What do you leave behind to create a place where you belong?
(Welcome home, however you find and create it.)
